Effective July 1, 2021 payments received under the Independent Living Pandemic Relief Program will be exempt as income and exempt as a resource for all EES programs. Staff should use the Income Category of Reimbursements with an Income Type of Reimbursement of Expenses. In addition, they should type IL Pandemic Relief in the Description field on the Income Detail page. This category and type is exempt for all programs.

The IL Program has launched applications for the Pandemic Relief Program effective July 1. Young adults who experienced foster care or Juvenile Services custody at age 14 or older (and meet other eligibility criteria) will be able to apply to receive a one-time payment from the IL Program. Youth do not have to be current IL Program participants to apply. The goal of the payment is to provide financial support to young adults during the pandemic. It is unknown how much the payment will be per youth as the number of applications received will determine benefit distribution.
