9100 Household Responsibility To Report Changes

Households receiving cash, food assistance, or child care assistance are required to report changes. The specific reporting requirement is determined by the program and the circumstances of the household. The requirements for reporting changes are listed in this section.

SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT MEDICAL EXPENSES (Food Assistance Only): Food Assistance households are NOT required to report any changes in medical expenses during the review period. However, if changes in medical expenses are reported by the household, they must be acted upon per 9121 or 9122, as appropriate. In addition, during the review period, the agency shall not act on changes in medical expenses which it learns of from a source other than the household and which, in order to take action, requires the agency to contact the household for verification. The agency shall only act on those changes in medical expenses that it learns about from a source other than the household if those changes are considered verified upon receipt and do not necessitate contact with the household.

9110 Household Responsibility Prior to Approval - New Applications and Applications Filed after a Break of One Month or More in Assistance - Applicants must report all changes of circumstances prior to case approval. These changes must be reported at the initial interview. For cases not requiring an interview, or changes which occur after the interview, but before the date of the notice of approval, change reporters must report within 10 calendar days from the date of the approval notice. Simplified food assistance reporters are only required to report changes listed in 9122.1 that occur between the date of the interview and the date of approval. These changes are required to be reported within 10 days of the date of the notice of approval. The worker is responsible for requesting or otherwise obtaining other information or verifications necessary to determine the household's eligibility or benefit amount for any month.
