Guidelines have recently been issued by the Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families, Office of Refugee Resettlement regarding access to such assistance for the resettlement of Iraqi and Afghan immigrants who have assisted the U.S. government overseas and the mandatory federal requirements associated with providing or denying access to such individuals in the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program. These guidelines are highlighted specifically for Iraqi and Afghan special immigrants and documentation required is the I-94 noting SQ or SI Parole (per section 602(B)(1) AAPA/Sec 1059(a) NDAA 2006). All other elements of the Office of Refugee Resettlement 1601, including it attached Documentation Guide remain unchanged and in effect.
Documentation Requirement for Iraqi and Afghan Special Immigrants program considerations:
- The codes used for this population are already available in KEES.
- Staff will follow the same process they use now and enter the information provided by SAVE.
