Do Not Have KEES Open in Multiple Sessions

When users have more than one session of KEES open at a time, there is a downstream impact causing many errors within cases.  One example would be, during case registration, the case head is not correctly assigned to a case because the user may have had another active session of KEES open and the new information did not properly register on the case.  Also, some examples have been found where household members from the last application that was registered, end up on the current application that the user is registering.  As a reminder, close all extra windows of KEES and only work in one session of the application to avoid issues within KEES.

Mandatory Work Program for ABAWDS

During the 2022 Legislative season, KS lawmakers passed legislation requiring a mandatory work program for ABAWDS. Below is a copy of a letter that was sent to impacted populations from KEES last night.  Our purpose in sharing the letter is to give you the opportunity to review and be prepared to receive questions from our clients.  If you have questions about the new work requirements or the letter, please see your supervisor.  In addition to this letter, there have been FAQs created and sent to your Program Administrator.

The Department for Children and Families (DCF) is informing you about new program requirements effective July 1, 2022 for certain recipients that receive food assistance in Kansas.

What is the change?

The Kansas Legislature passed a law which requires DCF to implement a mandatory work program for all able-bodied adults without dependents (ABAWDs) subject to the food assistance work requirements. Able-bodied adults without dependents are individuals that are 18 to 49 in age, without dependents in their household, that must work or participate in an approved work program for 30 hours a week to maintain eligibility for food assistance.

Individuals required to participate will receive a separate notice informing them of an appointment to begin the program. Those individuals that do not participate in the program without good cause will no longer be eligible for food assistance based on a penalty period.

If you have questions, call 1-888-369-4777 between the hours of 8am and 5pm Monday through Friday.
