In the last KEES Dispatch, we reminded staff that the Beginning Date of Aid should never be set to a different month than the application.
So what do you do if you don’t want to determine coverage until the month after the month of application? An example of this would be an application received on 3/09/2017 for Bob. Bob however already received coverage for 3/2017 on another case number.
You would register Bob’s application date of 3/09/2017 and set his Beginning Date of Aid to 3/01/2017. You would then run EDBC for 4/2017 to determine Bob’s eligibility moving forward. Once that is done, you would go back and run Negative Action of ‘Requested Exclusion’ for 3/2017 to deny that month (you will need to delete this denial NOA per Policy).
These instructions will be expanded upon and added to the KEES User Manual in the next coming week.
In the February 26th KEES Dispatch, we issued a reminder that if a person has a suffix after their last name that the suffix should be entered in the Suffix field on Individual Demographics rather than in the Last Name field. This was incorrect – the suffix does in fact need to be added to the Last Name field in order to be sent to the MMIS. We apologize for the misinformation.
