Determine Eligibility for Aged Out Foster Care Medical

  1. Complete a thorough Person Search to determine if the applicant had a Foster Care Medical Case. To determine if the case had Foster Care Medical:

  2. If the case has prior foster care medical, determine the age of the applicant. The date of birth is located in the Person Detail Summary block at the top of the Person View page.

NOTE: In the month of the applicant’s birthday they are considered to be the younger age. For example, if turning 23 on 7/4/2015, they are considered 22 for 7/2015 and 23 beginning 8/2015.

NOTE: The applicant is not eligible for Aged Out Foster Care Medical beginning the month after their 26th birthday.  See Not Eligible for Aged Out Foster Care.

  1. Determine if the applicant had an open Foster Care case during the month of their 18th birthday.

NOTE: FC information may be found by selecting the applicant’s name hyperlink in the All Persons Associated with the Case section on the Case Summary page. The Person View page displays and the program history will be located in the Person Case History block.

NOTE: The Other Prog. Assist. page is solely used for ICPC/ICAMA cases.  These children are not eligible for Aged Out Foster Care Medical.   See Not Eligible for Aged Out Foster Care.

NOTE: If the research indicates the applicant had an open Foster Care case and in the custody of the State of Kansas during the month of their 18th birthday, the applicant is eligible for Aged Out Foster Care Medical.
