Prorated Child Support Expenses when Person is FRE

KEES is not prorating the child support expenses for Food Assistance when a person has a Role of FRE. The child support amount needs to be calculated off system and entered into KEES.

NOTE: Prorated FRE means Income and expenses are prorated. This is similar to DI in KAECSES. Disqualified FRE means Income and expenses counted in full. This is similar to DF in KAECSES.

A pro-rata share of the child support expense of excluded individual(s) (prorated FRE) shall be counted as an expense to the remaining household members. The pro-rata share is calculated by dividing the child support expense evenly among the household members, including the prorated FREs and Disqualified FREs (if any). All but the Prorated FREs share is counted as an expense for the remaining household members

EXAMPLE:

The household consists of

·         Mother -FRE prorated

·         Father - FRE disqualified

·         4 children (MEMs)

Which equals 4 MEMs and 1 FRE prorated in KEES. The Mother is obligated to pay the child support expense of $500.

$500 divided by 6 people in the household = 83.33

5 (4 MEMs + 1 FRE prorated) times $83.33 = $416.65 is the allowable child support expense deduction entered in KEES.

See Adding an Expense – Non-Medical or Modifying an Existing Expense – Non-Medical for detailed steps are entering the prorated expense amount.
