Section 2: Additional Things to Know
The HUB-SSA Interface attempts to verify SSN, DOB, Citizenship, and Identity.
Additionally, if only ‘Income’ is selected on the Verification List page, but the person receiving the income does not have a verified SSN, a call to the HUB will automatically be initiated (as a verified SSN is a requirement for a call to the income interfaces)
When requesting income verification, either ‘Income’ or ‘No Income Reported’ must be selected for each person that income verification is needed.
When ‘Income’ does not show as Pending on the Verification List page, but the Income Amount Detail record is still in Pending status: If the same Income Detail is being used for more than one Income Amount Detail, and at least one of the Income Amount Detail records is set to Verified, it will prevent the Pending record from showing on the Verification List page. When this happens, a new Income Detail record will need to be created for the Pending income rather than using a new Income Amount Detail record.
To verify if earned income was found reasonably compatible, the worker must check the Verification Detail page for the income record being verified. If the income record is not displayed in the default view of the Verification List page, the worker should select Verified from the Status drop-down and then click the View button. If there are a lot of Verified records listed on the case, it is possible for the Income record to not display. If this should happen, you should follow subsequent verification steps since income was reported by the consumer.
SDX only indicates that income activity has been found.
Every person who indicated they were a US Citizen should have a Citizenship/Identity record. If they did not data map in with one, the user should create one using ‘Federal Data HUB’ ‘Pending’ BEFORE the Federal Interface is called. If this is not done, the interface cannot attempt to verify their Citizenship and Identity – the interface only attempts to verify this information on people who attest to being US Citizens.
The VLP Interface verifies lawful presence. For more information about the VLP interface and how to use it, see Verify Lawful Presence (VLP) Interface.
If Citizenship and Identity are verified by the HUB-SSA, the only verification that will update to ‘Verified’ is Identity.
This is a known defect and the worker needs to manually update the Citizenship record on the Citizenship/Identity Detail page. Policy has confirmed that these two go hand-in-hand on the HUB-SSA Interface (meaning if Identity comes back verified, then Citizenship is considered verified as well).
The Income Interfaces will only be called for people on the case who have a ‘Verified’ SSN (either it was previously verified or HUB-SSA was able to verify it).
As the Federal and State Interfaces are being called, the Request Verification button will be disabled and the case will be “locked”.
When a case is locked (example below), case information can be accessed and viewed by case workers.
While locked users are prevented from updating information on the case while the system waits for a response.
The case lock expires when a response is received, or after two hours if the responses have not been received.
The response is almost immediate (other than VLP) – the worker should give the system a few seconds to return a response via the Real Time Interface History page.
The case lock is a good indicator as to if the request was successfully sent
No case lock message indicates the user should check the Journal to see if there are any Auto Journal entries reflecting the request was made.
If no Auto Journal entry is present, the request was not sent.
NOTE: The Auto Journal entries should only be used for this purpose as they are not considered reliable verification.
