Updating a Record when Medicare Buy-In Occurs

Within the context of the case:

  1. Select Eligibility from Global Navigation. Select Customer Information from Local Navigation. Open the financial data pages by clicking on the + beside Financial from Task Navigation. Select Medicare Expense from Task Navigation.

  2. Will the consumer have an out-of-pocket Medicare expense after Buy-In occurs?

  3. On the Medicare Expense page click the Edit button to edit the existing record.

  4. On the Medicare Expense Detail page enter the End Date.  The End Date should be the last day of the month the expense should be counted for eligibility.

NOTE: Scroll all the way to the bottom of the Medicare Expense Detail page to enter the End Date. Do not enter any end dates in the Part A, Part B, or Part D End Date fields.

  5. Select Verified from the drop-down menu.

  6. Click the Save and Return button on the Medicare Expense Detail page to retain the data. The Medicare Expense page displays.

  7. Click the Add button to add the Medicare expense information.

  8. Select the consumer’s name from the Name drop-down menu.

NOTE: The information from the interface will not pre-populate on the new record.  After selecting a name the Medicare Information page can be accessed and the information can be recorded for entry on the Medicare Expense Detail page.

  9. Enter the Medicare Claim Number, all known Part A, Part B, and Part D information.

  10. Enter the Begin Date.  This should be the first day of the month the new expense should start being counted.

  11. Select Verified from the drop-down menu.

  12. Click Save and Return. The Effective Dates Confirmation List page displays.

  13. Review the dates for accuracy and click the Save button.

NOTE: If the user cannot Run EDBC for the month that Buy-In begins because it is not available in the drop-down menu on the Run EDBC page, the user needs to set a future “Alert” task to make the appropriate changes for the Medicare expenses when the month is available.
