The LIEAP 2024 season starts Monday, December 18th. A couple of activities occurred over the weekend to kick off the next LIEAP season.
The LIEAP Auto Issuance batch ran over the weekend and issued a LIEAP benefit for the 2024 season to a little over 11,000 households. Household criteria to qualify for auto issuance includes:
The Primary Applicant is not deceased
The Primary Applicant doesn’t have an address out of state
All household members are 62 or above
The only income in the home is SSA/SSI and/or KPERS
The household received LIEAP in the previous season.
Cases with an auto issued benefit also have a journal entry with the language below.
A benefit for the 2024 LIEAP season has been issued on this case through an Auto Issuance Batch. Do not register a LIEAP application on a case with an Active LIEAP program block. If another application is received, add it to the Supervisor team on the tracker to be looked at further.
The LIEAP Outreach Batch also ran over the weekend. This batch generates a form that is sent to last year’s LIEAP recipients who did not receive an auto issued benefit, and tells them they can apply online beginning Monday, December 18th. The LIEAP Outreach form will display in an On Hold status in Distributed Documents so they will not display in the SSP Message Center. On December 11, the status will be updated to Printed Centrally, and then the document will display in the SSP Message Center for the consumer.
In addition, additional forms with information about how to apply online are being mailed this year to Food Assistance and TANF clients who may qualify for LIEAP, but were not a recipient last year.

The PPS Payment Schedule for FY 2024 has been updated in the KEES Non-Medical User Manual.
