An issue was recently identified related to discontinuing medical coverage for a foster child who is leaving foster care.
Users are accepting the EDBC without reviewing the results. In two specific cases, the results displayed the following:
Program in Active Status
Program Type: CHIP with a Medical Aid Code beginning with PLT
This changed the Foster Care Medical program to a CHIP program based on the PPS user’s action.
The Foster Care Medical case was not discontinued.
KEES added a second premium as they were also active on the family medical case and had been assessed a premium
The family was charged a CHIP premium payment on the Foster Care Medical case.
When you notice that Continuous Eligibility is holding over from a Family Medical case, Negative Action will need to be used to discontinue the PPS case. Please follow the instructions in the KEES User Manual for Deny a Program.
Home > KEES User Manual Introduction > Prevention and Protection Services (PPS) > PPS Case Processing > Deny a Program.
