WA496 Filing Jointly with Spouse Outside the Home

There is currently a known issue with the creation of IBUs at EDBC. If an applicant is filing jointly with a spouse, who is coded as Permanently Out of the Home, that spouse will be incorrectly included in the IBU of the applicant who they are filing jointly with. Policy states to add the spouse of an individual or tax filer, only if they are living together. WA 496 has been created to assist staff when this situation has been encountered to ensure accurate determinations are being reached.

Example: The case members are PA, SP, and 1 CH. The PA and CH are in the home. The SP is out of the home. The PA reports that they will file taxes jointly with the SP. The CH will be claimed as a dependent on the PA and SP’s joint return

TBQ Medicare Info

It has been identified that there is an issue with the inbound Medicare (TBQ) interface not updating for the past few days. This issue is expected to be fixed in the near future and inbound Medicare calls that were skipped during this time will be updated appropriately. If a case does not have Medicare data and you feel the client should have Medicare data, please do not process the case until you have been notified via the KEES Dispatch that the Medicare files are being processed. Staff do not need to submit a Help Desk ticket pertaining to this issue at this time. Staff will be informed when this issue has been resolved and work can be resumed.

If you continue to have problems after this issue has been resolved, we ask that you then submit Help Desk incidents so the issues can be further researched.

Automation of Child Support Compliance and Non-Compliance:

A person must cooperate with Child Support Services (CSS) requirements to remain eligible for TANF, Child Care and Food Assistance benefits. Effective August 1, 2018, the communication process between CSS and EES will be automated. When CSS staff indicate a person is not cooperating or cooperating on the CADS screen in the CSS system, communication is sent to KEES via the CSS interface. KEES will create the non-compliance or update the non-compliance record(s) with compliance information on the Eligibility Non-Compliance page, run EDBC to determine appropriate eligibility, and send notification (NOA) to the client (if applicable).

Starting tomorrow the Memorandum will now be imaged into the Case – No Task basket when received from CSS via email.

Staff will continue to work any ‘Change’ tasks received prior to 8/1/2018. The compliance report being worked by a small group will also be worked through the last day of July. This includes creating or updating the non-compliance record, running EDBC, and sending the NOA.
