1. Enter the vehicle’s Model Year in the Year field.
2. Enter the vehicle’s Model in the Model field, if available.
3. Enter the vehicle’s Make in the Make field, if available.
4. Select the Motor Vehicle Type using the drop-down menu. See KEES Medical Resource Values for more information. (KEES User Manual Introduction, K2Ks, Medical Resource Values).
5. Select the appropriate Fair Market Value Source and Fair Market Value using the drop-down menus.
For a Primary vehicle, the user can enter any value in the Fair Market Value Source and Fair Market Value drop-down menus. But the Status/Usage Code must be marked as Primary Vehicle.
For other countable Motor Vehicles: If the vehicle is greater than 7 years old, select Other in the Fair Market Value Source drop-down menu and select $100.00 in the Fair Market Value drop-down menu.
If the countable Motor Vehicle is 7 years old or less, select Blue Book from the Fair Market Value Source drop-down menu, and enter the value listed on the Kelly Blue Book Website (KBB) on the Fair Market Value drop-down menu.
NOTE: If the user is required to use KBB, a copy of the information from the website MUST be imaged to the case. See KEES Medical Imaging for assistance on imaging the KBB information to the case. (KEES User Manual Introduction, Imaging)
For other countable Motor Vehicles that cannot be verified through the KBB, select Other from the Fair Market Value Source drop-down menu and enter the value listed on the National Automobile Dealers Association Website (NADA) on the Fair Market Value drop-down menu.
6. Use the Registered in Kansas drop-down menu to select Yes or No.
NOTE: The encumbrance field is not currently used to determine the value of a resource. Do not enter an amount in the Encumbrance field unless the consumer reports that they still owe money on a Resource.
7. Select the appropriate Status/Usage Code using the drop-down menu. REMEMBER a Motor Vehicle MUST be marked with the correct Status/Usage Code for KEES to exempt it.
8. If the consumer has more than one vehicle selecting the Count as Most Valuable Vehicle (Medicaid only) check box may be used to exempt one vehicle. Only one vehicle should be selected.
9. Select the appropriate value using the Verified drop-down menu.
10. Click the Save and Add Another button to add additional Resource Category records. Otherwise, click the Save and Return button.
