Master Person Index (MPI)

· MPI has dynamic search capabilities that will help the user locate the correct individual. The MPI will automatically use a combination of Exact Match, SoundEx (Phonetic), and Wildcard Search to locate potential matches for the search criteria provided. MPI is the system of record for person-based information stored within KEES, CSS, KMIS, and FACTS. This will allow for better search results as users will have the ability to query client information from other systems.
The more search criteria used within a single search will help MPI return a more exact search result.
If a search returns more than 200 results the ‘Maximum search limit exceeded. Please refine your search’ message will return. Users will need to refine their search by adding additional search criteria to narrow down the possible matches.
Example: Using Generic names such as ‘Mary Smith’ will find more than 200 clients, which would result in this message returning. Adding additional information such as Date of Birth and/or SSN would help narrow the search result for Mary Smith.
MPI uses logic that will match on SSN numbers even if one number in one section of the SSN number is off +1 digit or -1 digit.
- Using the SSN number of ‘649-87-3697’ as part of your search criteria. Here are some possible matches that will return:

  - 649-88-3697
  - 649-87-3698
SoundEx (Phonetic) search functionality will use sound-like matching on names.
- SoundEx functionality will be applied if the First and Last name used to execute a search does not find an exact match.
Wildcard search functionality will return results based on the first two characters of the first name and the first three characters of the last name.
- Wildcard searches will be applied when there are no results on the exact match search on the First Name & Last Name and no results from the SoundEx (Phonetic) search.
TPI does not have any dynamic search capabilities, which limits the search functionality to Exact Matches only. TPI does not use SoundEx (Phonetic) or automatic wildcard searches. Users can apply manual wildcard searches if they are unable to find their client with exact match search. TPI is limited to only query client data stored in KEES. It does not have the ability to query information stored within CSS, KMIS, and FACTS.

NOTE: Case Number search results will always be returned by TPI. Case Number is unique to KEES and is not stored in the MPI.
