Adding a Child Care Need for a Parent/Caretaker

  1. Select Eligibility from Global Navigation. Select Customer Information from Local Navigation. Click the + beside Child Care from Task Navigation to open the Child Care data collection pages. Select Child Care Need Parent from Task Navigation. The Child Care Needs List – Parent page displays.

  2. Click the Add button.  The Child Care Need Detail Parent page displays.

  3. Select the parent/caretaker’s name from the Name drop-down menu.

    NOTE:  If all relationships have not been completed for the case, nothing will be available in the Name drop-down menu and a page warning displays.

  4. Select the Need Reasons from the multi-select menu.  If the parent/caretaker has more than one Need Reason the user may select multiple reasons at one time by clicking on the first Need Reason, holding the Control key and clicking on the other Need Reasons.

    • FAET participation – Selected when the parent/caretaker is participating in the FAET program.

    • Job Corps – Selected when the parent/caretaker is requesting Child Care while participating in Job Corps.

    • Maintain Employment – Selected when the parent/caretaker is requesting child care while working.

    • Post-Secondary Education – Selected when the parent/caretaker is requesting child care while attending Post-Secondary Education.  

      • This Need Reason should NOT be selected if the parent/caretaker is attending School as part of FAET or WP participation or participating in an EHS Partnership.

      • This Need Reason should be selected if the household has a child(ren) requesting Child Care that is not part of the EHS Partnership.

    • Social Services – Selected when Child Care is requested for a qualified social service reason per policy.

    • Teen Parent Education and Training – Selected when the minor parent is requesting Child Care to attend High School.

    • WP participation – Selected when the parent/caretaker is participating in TANF Work Programs.

    • EHS Partnership – Selected when the family is receiving Child Care through the Early Head Start Partnership.

    NOTE: If a Need Reason of EHS Partnership, Social Services, or FCCC – Foster Care Child Care is selected, the Family Share Deduction will be $0 and the income and resource tests are Waived at EDBC.

    NOTE:
     If Need Reasons of FAET Participation or WP Participation are selected and the consumer is not on an active FAET program or WP program an error message displays.  

  5. Enter the Begin Date using the <mm/dd/yyyy> format or the calendar icon.  The begin date is the application date or the first day.

  6. Click the Save and Return button. The Child Care Needs List – Parent page displays.
