Modifying Existing Income - Family Medical

Modify existing income when the income source is the same and there is a change in wages, hours, or a new benefit amount.

If a change is reported for a consumer who is a program person on multiple programs or cases, the change shall be acted upon according to specific program rules by the processing entity (either the Clearinghouse or DCF), but only for the applicable income type.  EDBC can then run without impacting the other program.   Create a contact log for the partner agency to inform of the income change.    The receiving entity is responsible for any necessary changes and redetermination on that program.  See Cross-Agency Communication Guide for specific Contact Log details.

Complete the following

  1. In the context of the case, select Eligibility from the Global Navigation Bar. Select Customer Information from Local Navigation. Open the financial data pages by clicking on the + beside Financial from Task Navigation. Select Income from Task Navigation.

  2. On the Income List page, click the Edit button beside the income to be changed.

NOTE: Only use the Edit button when modifying income from the same source. If adding income from a new source, remember to end date the existing income first.  See End Dating Existing Income and Adding Income for these steps.

  3. In the Income Amounts section, select Family Medical from the Display Program drop-down menu, and click the Add button.

NOTE: All is the defaulted Display Program in the Income Amounts section. This should only be used when the user is modifying the Income Amount as a result of an entry error. Using the Edit button will change the existing income and not keep a historical record. The Add button must be used in an effort to keep accurate income history.

  4. Add a new Record for the change in hours, wage, or new benefit amount.

  5. Record a new Begin Date. The Begin Date is the first day of the first month the income should be counted for eligibility.

  6. Use the drop-down menu to select the Verification and the Source values.

  7. Click the Save and Return button.

  8. The Effective Dating Confirmation List page displays. This page displays any previous record’s Begin and End Date, as well as the Begin Date for the new income information. Review the information for accuracy and click the Save button.

  9. The Income Detail page displays. Review it for accuracy, then click the Save and Return button.
