Reapply Person - Medical

 

NOTE: Always Rescind before you Reapply. If some Program Persons need to be Rescinded and others are a new request that requires a Reapply, always complete the Rescind first. See Reconsideration Period for more information on when to Rescind vs Reapply.

 

Reapply allows a user to log a new Application Date for an existing Denied or Discontinued person on an Active program. All case persons are added to the case before completing the Reapply process. See Add a Case Person for more information.

 

From the Case Summary Page

  1. Change the Display Date to the first month the program person is being added to the program (the Beginning Date of Aid) using the <mm/dd/yyyy> format or the calendar icon.

  2. Click the View button to refresh the page with the new Display Date.

  3. In the Medical Program block, click the View Details button. The Medical Detail page displays.

  4. Click the Edit button to make the page editable.

  5. Click the Reapply button. The New / Reapplication Detail page displays.

  6. Using the Case Application drop-down menu select one of the following:

    1. E-App Number-Date – used for e-Applications received through the:

      1. Federally Facilitated Marketplace (FFM)

      2. KanCare Medical Consumer Self-Service Portal (SSP)

      3. Worker Portal

      4. Low Income Subsidy (LIS) /  Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA)

NOTE: Select the applicable e-App Number-Date.  This will tie the e-Application to the Program.

 

NOTE: For requests made via phone (Add a Person) if there is an existing application that has not been processed, and is within 45 days of the original request, the e-App ID Number of the original request should be selected in the dropdown.

    1. New Case Application – used for:

      1. Specialty applications such as Breast and Cervical Cancer (BCC).

      2. Phone or Add a Person requests when the application has already been processed but is still within 45 days.

    2. New Case Application is selected from the dropdown, and the original Application Date is used.

      1. Phone or Add a Person requests when the application is already processed and is past the 45-day mark.

    3. New Case Application is selected from the dropdown, and the new Application Date is entered.

    1. Enter the Application Date as the date the request is made using the <mm/dd/yyyy> format or the calendar icon.

      1. Enter the Beginning Date of Aid using the <mm/dd/yyyy> format or the calendar icon.  The date should be the first day of the first month the person can be added to the program, considering Timely and Adequate notice.

        1. For Medicaid Deemed Newborns:

          1. Application date – date of birth for the child.

          2. Beginning Date of Aid – date of birth of the child.

        2. For all other newborns:

          1. Application Date – date coverage was requested.

          2. Beginning Date of Aid – date of birth for the child if coverage was requested in the month of birth. Otherwise, use the first day of the month of application.

        1. Select the Name check box for the applicable person(s).

        2. Click the Add button in the Requested Medical Type block. The Requested Medical Type Detail page displays.

        3. Select the appropriate Requested Medical Type using the drop-down menu.

        4. Select the Begin Month for the Requested Medical Type.

        5. Use the following guidance when selecting a Requested Medical Type:

          1. If MAGI, select MAGI.

          2. If Inmate, select Inmate.

          3. If Long Term Care, select LTC.

          4. If Medicare Savings Plans only is requested, select MSP.

          5. If Qualified Disabled Working Individual only is requested, select Qualified Disabled Working Individual.

          6. If requesting a Resource Assessment only and not applying for Medical, select Resource Assessment Only.

          7. If Working Healthy is requested, select Working Healthy and select the Pays FICA or SECA Taxes check box if applicable.

          8. All other requests, select Medical.

        6. Click Save and Return.

        NOTE: If the application date is 6 months old or greater the following error message will display:

        Error! Application Date – The application date cannot be more than six months prior to the current date.

        A Help Desk ticket is needed to reapply the program block.

        1. The Medical Person Detail page displays with the updated Requested Medical Type.

        1. Click the Save and Return button.

          1. If New Case Application was selected on the New / Reapplication Detail page the New Case Application page displays.

            1. Select  the correct Source from the drop-down menu.   

            2. Verify the Primary Applicant field is accurate.

            3. Click the Save and Continue button.

        1. The Medical Detail page displays.

        1. Click the Save and Return button. The Case Summary page displays.
