Home > When there are Multiple Case Numbers for One Household
The following process should be followed when staff encounter a consumer who has multiple active case numbers. This process should be followed for all medical types.
Determine which case should continue to be used and remain active. Staff can do this by:
Verifying which case was open and active first.
Reviewing the Case Head and checking the case for a Medical program block.
Checking the Person View page to determine if the individual is associated to any additional cases.
Note: Use the case with the most recent history. Then determine if the user has a Usable Program Block – Medical.
After determining which case is older, staff need to determine if that case number is usable. If the only usable case is FCM or ASM, follow the Business process to route the case appropriately. See Usable Case Number – Medical for further instructions.
The unusable case needs to be discontinued. See Negative Action for further instructions.
All applications and documents that had been scanned into Perceptive Content on the discontinued case will need to be re-indexed to the usable case. See Re-Index Documents to Case Number in Preceptive Content for further instructions.
Staff can now continue case processing on the usable case.
Select Journal from Utility Navigation (upper right corner of page in dark blue banner). Record a Journal entry of the actions taken on the case. See Journal for more information about journaling functionality.
