This step occurs when the SEVIS ID is incorrect, inactive, or missing. Ensure the information provided is accurately entered in KEES, update if needed, and request verification again.
If there is no change in the VLP response, the applicant must contact their school or sponsor to resolve the issue.
NOTE: The first step in the process below assumes the worker has:
Completed the initial Step 1 VLP request
Obtained a SEVIS ID or the applicant reported that their SEVIS ID issues have been resolved
Click Verifications from Task Navigation. The Verification List page displays.
Check that the following defaulted values are displaying and correct as needed:
Pending from the Status drop-down menu
Medical from the Program Type drop-down menu
Click Edit next to the INS Document. The Verification Detail page displays in edit mode.
Check to ensure that Step 1b displays in the Next Step to Request drop-down.
Click the Save and Return button. The Verification List page displays.
Click the check box next to the INS Document to verify.
Click the Request Verification button; the Real Time Interface History List page displays.
Click Verifications from Task Navigation; the Verification List page redisplays.
Review the results and follow the appropriate action as listed below:
If the INS Document verification no longer displays in Pending status, it has been Verified. See A for further details.
If the INS Document verification displays in Pending Status and has icon to the left of the record, see B for additional steps that need to be taken.
If the INS Document verification displays in Pending Status and does not have icon to the left of the record, see C.
Select Verified from the Status drop-down menu.
Click the Search button. The Verification List page refreshes.
Click the caret under Type to refresh the Verification List page.
Click the INS Document hyperlink. The Verification Detail page displays.
Click the View History button. The INS Document Verification Request List page displays.
Click the DHS Case Number hyperlink. The INS Document Verification Request Detail page displays.
Use the Response Data Received to update the Non-Citizenship Data Collection record.
B Additional Steps Required 1b
Hover the mouse over the icon.
A message will display.
If Attach a document before requesting verification displays, Step 1b verification is complete and Step 3 is required.
If Select Next Step to Request before requesting verification displays, click on the icon. The Verification Detail page displays.
Click the Next Step to Request drop-down menu.
Select the lowest Step number from the drop-down.
Example: If Step 2 and Step 3 are your options, select Step 2.

Click the Save and Return button.
C Error Calling Hub or VLP Response Received but Verification Detail Pending 1b
Click the INS Document hyperlink. The Verification Detail page displays.
Click the View History button. The INS Document Verification Request List page displays.
Click the DHS Case Number hyperlink. The INS Document Verification Request Detail page displays.
Use the Response Data Received to update the Non-Citizenship Data Collection page.
NOTE: If the Source Status says Error Calling Hub the VLP request failed. If this happens:
